👔DeWork Diaries

Last time, I shared what it’s like managing inbound collabs, reaching out to projects to secure spots for the community. This time, I want to flip the script and talk about outbound collabs, where the roles are reversed.

In outbound collabs, I represent a client and manage the flow of requests coming from other collab managers. These can be post-mint projects, alpha groups, or community leads reaching out to secure spots for their communities.

At first glance, it may seem straightforward. Someone reaches out asking for spots, and we either approve or decline the request. But like everything in Web3, there’s more nuance behind the scenes.

Assessment first

Before confirming any collab, I assess the project or community reaching out. I look at how active and engaged their community is, and whether they align with my client’s goals. The goal is to add real value, not just exposure.

Staying organized

When handling multiple collabs daily, keeping track is essential. I maintain a tracker that includes who reached out, the name of their community, how many spots they requested, and what we agreed on. This helps avoid duplicates and keeps everything transparent.

Clear communication matters

Even when I’m the one receiving requests, I try to respond to everyone. Sometimes the collab doesn’t move forward, but being responsive builds trust and long-term relationships. At the end of the day, I’m representing someone else’s brand, and that means every interaction counts.

Setting up the collab.

Once a collab is approved, I create a collab template that outlines the giveaway details and all the requirements. I send it to the collab manager and ask them to host the giveaway on their end. After it goes live, I check to ensure all requirements have been followed properly.

Once the giveaway ends, they send me the list of winners. I make sure everything is collected, organized, and added to the collab tracker so it is reflected accurately and ready to be submitted to the client at the end of the campaign.

Outbound collabs might seem more reactive, but they require just as much diligence and structure.

Next time, I’ll give you a look at what a typical day in Web3 looks like for me.

Thanks for reading,

Until next time.
